The Challenge:
In late 2018, a US packaging equipment manufacturer based in New Jersey was in the process of establishing a new client relationship with a pharmaceutical company based in Mexico. The pharmaceutical company was interested in purchasing auger filling equipment for their facility in Mexico. In order to ensure proper design and build of the machinery and run line tests, the export sale was contingent on receipt of antibiotic powder samples from Mexico. In November 2018, the company was unsuccessful in importing the samples due to lack of import requirement guidance and as a result, the sale of their US manufactured equipment was at risk.

The association turned the inquiry over to our team as the association’s resident “Export Experts” in order to provide customized support to their member. In coordination with US Food and Drug Administration and US Customs & Border Protection, our team provided instructional guidance on required process and documentation and advised on how to facilitate the importation of pharmaceutical samples used for machine design and testing.
